Subscriber FAQs

Who can become a subscriber?

Anyone can become a subscriber. Subscription tickets are available at both adult and child prices and are perfect for anyone who wants to see multiple shows at a discounted price within one season.

What’s the difference between a subscriber and a single ticket buyer?

A subscriber is someone who commits up front to purchasing a ticket to at least two productions while a single ticket buyer is someone who purchases a ticket to one production at a time. While a single ticket buyer can wind up buying tickets to multiple productions, it is the commitment up front to buy a ticket to at least two productions within the same purchase & season that distinguishes a subscriber.

How much does a subscription cost?

This depends on how many performances you wish to attend, your desired venue and preferred seating reserve. Our subscription packages start as low as $68 per ticket for an Adult and $32 per ticket for a 2-ballet package for a Child.

What is the age for child tickets?

Child subscription tickets are available up to and including the age of 17.
Please be advised that not all productions may be appropriate for young children.  If you have any questions about the content of our ballets, please call the RNZB at (04) 381 9000.

Do I have to pay upfront for the full year?

No, you can take advantage of the flexible payment option and pay in two instalments. Pay $100 now and the balance on 3 March 2025.

Do I have to subscribe early to become a subscriber?

A person can choose to subscribe at any time during the season as long as tickets remain available for at least two productions.  However, tickets are subject to availability and the best seats aren’t guaranteed after they go on sale to the general public.  The RNZB recommends subscribing as early as possible to secure yourself the best seats to the performance dates you want.

Can I purchase a subscription across different venues?

Yes, you can purchase a subscription that covers different venues. Please choose the Multi City Package option online or phone us to book on 04 831 1056.

Can I mix price reserves within a subscription package?

Yes! You are able to select mixed price reserves online and over the phone with our Ticketing Team.

What if I can’t make my performance date?

Subscribers are incredibly important to the RNZB and we’re here to help you in any way that we can.  We do ask that you choose your dates wisely and plan accordingly, but we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise.  If you’re unable to make your performance, contact the RNZB Ticketing Team at 04 831 1056 as soon as possible to discuss your options.

Can I select my own seat?

We do not currently offer interactive seating functionality online. If you have specific seating requests, please include them in your order notes at the time of booking. Should no notes be included, our team will endeavour to seat you in the best available seats.

How do I receive my tickets?

Your tickets will be mailed to you from February 2025. Please ensure you include your best mailing address when booking. The RNZB do not offer e-Tickets or print at home tickets.

My tickets haven't arrived, what do I do?

If your tickets have not arrived, or they’ve been misplaced, please speak to the RNZB ticketing team at the RNZB ticket collection point in the venue from an hour before the performance.

How can I buy discounted tickets for my friends and whānau?

After adding your package to the cart, select the option at the top of the page that says “Click here to add additional tickets to your 2025 Subscription”. You will then be able to add the extra tickets as desired.

You can also let our team know you wish to add extra tickets if booking over the phone.

If you wish to add extra tickets after you’ve already completed your 2024 subscription booking, please email subscribe@rnzb.org.nz or call 04 831 1056 and our ticketing team will be able to assist.

How do I redeem my complimentary programmes?

Alongside your tickets, you will receive complimentary programme vouchers which can be exchanged for programmes at the theatre on the day of your chosen performance (one voucher for every two tickets).

Why is there only one production for Napier in 2025?

We love performing in Hawke’s Bay but sadly haven’t been able to fit in more than one visit in 2025. Every year brings some hard choices around what’s possible within a super-tight schedule and the available budget.

Our planning for 2025 was partially influenced by Covid cancellations of The Firebird in 2021; as Napier was one of the centres that did see The Firebird in 2021 it was decided to prioritise Palmerston North and South Island venues in this instance, where this ballet has not been shown in the past.

As subscriptions require the booking of two or more ballets in a season, Napier attendees do have the option of booking a Multi-City package with a performance in another location. Otherwise, tickets for The Nutcracker only will be available via Ticketek from 9 December 2024.
